Toi J. Thomas is an experienced attorney who combines strong advocacy with a genuine commitment to helping clients through challenging and often deeply personal situations. As Managing Attorney at LLG National Law Firm, she brings a steady, confident presence to complex cases and takes pride in helping clients regain a sense of control through skilled, results-oriented representation. Her clients describe her as approachable, attentive, and unafraid to stand her ground when the stakes are high.
Toi’s approach to the law centers on preparation, communication, and empathy. She believes that understanding her clients’ goals is just as important as understanding the law itself. Whether drafting a motion, negotiating a settlement, or appearing in court, she focuses on building trust and maintaining transparency at every step. Her ability to resolve disputes through creative problem-solving and strategic negotiation often allows clients to achieve favorable outcomes without prolonged litigation.
Before joining LLG, Toi handled a wide range of civil and family law matters throughout Michigan. She gained valuable courtroom and case management experience with respected firms, including Applebaum & Stone PLLC, Zausmer PC, Foster Swift Collins & Smith PC, and the City of Detroit’s Law Department. Her work spanned No-Fault and third-party insurance claims, municipal defense, and family law disputes involving custody, parenting time, and child support. Representing both plaintiffs and defendants gave her insight into how each side builds its case, strengthening her ability to anticipate arguments and advocate effectively for her clients.
Toi also founded and managed her own private practice, where she represented individuals in matters involving estate planning, family law, and criminal law. She prepared Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney, advised families through sensitive transitions, and ensured that each client’s wishes were clearly protected. That experience deepened her appreciation for the personal side of legal practice—the part that requires listening, patience, and compassion in equal measure.
A graduate of Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, Toi earned her Juris Doctor in 2016 and has been a member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan since 2018. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, cum laude, from Northwood University. During law school, she served in several student organizations, including the Christian Law Society, the Black Law Students Association, and the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, and she received the Leadership Achievement Award for her dedication and service.
Toi values LLG’s collaborative culture and the opportunity to work alongside colleagues who share her passion for advocacy. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and playing pool.
